Plagiarism Policy

JPPHealth is owned by Care Hospitals Saudi Arabia and published by Waraqa Evidence Company. Discover STM Publishing Ltd hosts the journal and is a full voting member of Crossref. The journal is committed to academic integrity and ethical publishing, and checks submitted manuscripts for similarity using iThenticate.

What is plagiarism?

Plagiarism is using someone else's work, ideas or intellectual property without proper acknowledgement or permission and presenting it as one's own. It includes verbatim copying, paraphrasing or summarising substantial parts of another person's work without appropriate citation.

Types of plagiarism

  • Direct plagiarism: reproducing someone else's work word for word without quotation marks or proper citation.
  • Self-plagiarism: reusing substantial parts of one's own previously published work without proper citation.
  • Paraphrasing plagiarism: rewriting someone else's work in one's own words without proper attribution.
  • Mosaic plagiarism: combining phrases, ideas or sentences from several sources without proper citation.

How manuscripts are checked

All submitted manuscripts are screened with iThenticate before peer review. The editor reads the similarity report and decides whether any overlap is acceptable.

Acceptable similarity

Some similarity can occur, especially in the methods or background sections, as long as the source is cited. A similarity index of up to 15% is generally considered acceptable. Any significant overlap with existing work must be cited properly.

Consequences of plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected, the manuscript will be rejected. Depending on the severity, the journal may also inform the author's institution and refuse future submissions from the author. Cases are handled following the COPE guidelines. If plagiarism is found in a published article, the journal will correct or retract it as described in our Corrections, Retractions and Expressions of Concern policy.

Reporting plagiarism

Readers, reviewers and authors are encouraged to report suspected plagiarism to the editorial office through the Contact Us page, giving the journal name, manuscript title, volume and issue number, and any other relevant details.
